Backpack Tool for Repairing Sports Field Divots--DivotPack

How do effectively repair divots on sports turf fields following events? Please consider the DivotPack for filling those divots and getting grass to grow again.

It is always interesting to visit trade shows to learn about new products being introduced to the sports turf industry. Many times products that are introduced into the golf industry can also be used in the sports turf industry. I found the DivotPack is a good example when I attended the 2012 Iowa Sports Turf Managers Association conference in conjunction with the golf, lawn care, and park and recreation groups in Des Moines, IA.

Katie Schwegman, Founder/President, DivotPack, was on hand to demonstrate her latest invention. The rugged yet light weight unit features a well made shoulder harness with a midsection belt clip. The divot mix is added to the top of DivotPack after opening the top flap that more than protects the contents as well as prevents spillage. The ingenious dispensing spray handle (patent pending) allows the operator to regulate the amount of divot mix to apply. Katie has done an excellent job of incorporating ergonomic principles into the design, using USA products, and having it manufactured in the USA.

Here are a few of the DivotPack Features:
From a sports turf managers perspective this is a time and fatigue saving tool that can be operated by any staff member. By adding grass seed into the divot mix the turf manager has a much better chance of filling the divots and providing a safer playing surface for athletes.

To minimize the "wart" looking effect of the divot mix application a sports turf manager might also consider using a Shurflo battery operated backpack sprayer to apply a turf colorant and micro nutrients. With irrigation the "wart" looking divot will quickly be covered with new growth and the root zone reestablished for better footing.
